El Cretino was a loud, unfiltered 3-piece band: riffs, noise, and hooks that don’t apologize for being big. Most recordings were impromptu takes recorded on a 4 track tape in the basement of a punk rock squatter house. Instruments rotated. Matthew was lead vocals and often played guitar/drums. Other members were Keith L. White and Joesph Taylor. circa 2004
2 members of El Cretino moved on to create Dangerous Assumptions. No-wave punk meets jazz/thrash, D.A. was a truly genre-breaking experiment that set new standards for sampling and front-man driven FX and experimentation. What started as a joke set the bar higher for thrash and industrial. Members include Matthew Detmer, Keith L. White, Julio Plata, Mark Prexler, and Heather Roman. Founded in 2010
z2 is a record by Devin Townsend, the 2nd record in the Ziltoid series released by Hevy Devy records. Matthew was a contributing artist to 2 tracks on this album as part of the "Universal Choir".
op4 was a loud 5-piece playing experimental grunge/punk. Contributions include keyboard, backing vocals, FX.
Manipulate was a brief industrial metal project. Members were Matthew Detmer, Eddie Neas, Ricky Whitaker, and Scott McKay. circa 2021
